Bonding, Veneers, & Crowns: What Are The Differences?
At Brenner Dental Care, we offer a number of cosmetic dentistry services to improve a patient’s smile, including dental bonding, veneers, and crowns. Each of these treatments can make a dramatic change in a person’s smile, but they serve different purposes. We may recommend bonding, veneers, and crowns individually or as part of a smile makeover.
Three Treatments, Infinite Possibilities
Dental bonding, veneers, and crowns are versatile on their own, but in combination, as part of a smile makeover, they can work miracles.
Dental Bonding: A natural-looking way to disguise imperfections like chips, cracks, stubborn staining, and more, dental bonding can be applied in a single appointment to transform the look of a tooth. The composite bonding material blends in perfectly with the surrounding tooth enamel and stays in place for years. We may recommend dental bonding if you have one or two teeth with minor flaws or tooth decay. Many of our patients with silver fillings replace them with dental bonding to create a seamless look.
Veneers: Known for being the cosmetic treatment of choice among celebrities, veneers create a picture-perfect smile that lasts for many years and will never lose its luster. Thin and translucent, veneers are great for individual teeth to create a more balanced smile or multiple teeth for a total transformation. Many of our patients ask us about veneers for all the teeth that are visible when they smile. Veneers are durable and stain resistant.
Crowns: This tooth-strengthening treatment will restore the integrity and appearance of a severely damaged tooth and save it from needing extraction. A crown covers the tooth structure to restore its previous shape and function. We place crowns on teeth that can’t support bonding. We also use them to anchor a dental bridge in place. The durable porcelain we use to fabricate a crown closely resembles natural tooth enamel and can withstand the stress of daily use.
A Powerful Plan
Crowns, veneers, and dental bonding can work individually or together as part of a broader treatment plan to create a patient’s ideal smile. The treatment we recommend depends on the patient’s needs and desired outcome. In all cases, we will sit down with the patient to create a personalized treatment plan that will transform their smile.
